Home sessions are the best. I love when my clients invite me into their home for our session. There’s a whole different comfort and relaxation level that comes with home sessions that I love. I admit, another reason I love home sessions is the challenge of them. If I choose a location, I usually have a pretty good basic game plan in mind before we start. There are always unexpected challenges, but I’m usually pretty comfortable when I know where I’m shooting. With home sessions, it’s all up in the air since I’ve usually never seen where I’m shooting until we’re starting. And it’s a fun challenge and gives me a nice little adrenaline rush right before I get there.

This one in particular definitely gave us our exercise for the day. This kid wins most active one-year-old ever award! We were all exhausted by the end, but it was a lot of fun in the process. Rule number one for one-year-old sessions is that they run the show, and she took that rule and ran with it!

Loved this engagement session. They were completely natural from the first 30 seconds I held up my camera and started shooting, which just makes my job so much easier. The natural “them” moments are by far my favorite photos of the session, the moments where they just let go and went with their spontaneity — kissing her hand, giving her goofing looks to make her laugh, picking her up piggy-back. I love that none of those moments were choreographed, and it just makes me love those images.

I think this post really shows my love of black and white photography as well, especially portrait photography. I absolutely love it.

Congratulations on your engagement, and have a wonderful wedding in Massachusetts! I’m sure sparks will keep flying for you.

So, I’m starting this new thing where I feature some of my products in clients’ homes to give future clients ideas on how to display my photographs as fine art in their own home. I wanted to start out with this beautiful display. Remember this couples’ session I did last month? Well here are some of the beautiful products we created for them. They did an awesome job choosing their products. I was so excited to deliver everything to them and see the finished displays.

First up are these two 20×30 fine art canvas gallery wraps in black and white. They have it in a cool place in their house where you can see it on both sides of the wall, thanks to the mirror on the other side!

Here are two 16×20 metallic prints in their bedroom.

And a fun 4×6 print in their kitchen. Isn’t that frame incredible? I love it.

30 minutes. Done. I deem this year’s Christmas mini-sessions a success. As you can see, I still make sure we get variety and plenty of incredible photos in that time! Just a couple more mini-sessions to proof and edit, and that will wrap up this year’s Christmas card mini-sessions! Sad, but true. If you missed them this year, be watching for them next year. They are such a great deal.

If I hear a lot of interest, I’ll probably start holding mini-sessions more often throughout the year, so drop me a comment or email or pull me aside if you know me to let me know you’re interested.
